Caleb Williams’ Ego Was Bruised and Battered Egos makes for Goof-ball behavior

Caleb Williams showered with the team and wandered around the locker room in a robe after watching the game from the sideline and Case Keenum lighting it up, baby. Williams stood there with sunglasses on, despite the fact that it was nighttime, like a washed up actor nobody recognizes on the red carpet.
His fragile ego, shattered like Austrian porcelain.
He raced into the locker room after the game, stripped, and leaped into the shower. After hamming it up with the fellas, he exited the steam, donned a robe like Elagabalus, and sauntered around the locker room, ego as bruised as his thigh-strain, and was noticeably agitated that old man Keenum one-up’d him.
There is a time and a place to be a goof ball, but after a win against the Eagles, at home, when you aren’t even part of it, is not one of them.
There have been mixed feelings about Williams’s behavior, most of it bad, and in all honesty, had a chariot driver in the 3rd century AD been so insolent, especially in front of a veteran who has done some serious time in the league, he would have been exiled, condemned to the mines, or worse, flogged with a flagrum weighted with metal shards and bone.
Nobody was impressed by Williams’s injury, his weeping and thumbs up after being carted off the field by ER personnel, or the locker room antics. It was Cam Ward and Drake Maye who were the stains on the early games of this new season, but not anymore, Williams now sits alone at the bottom.
If I was Ben Johnson, Case Keenum would be the new starter, regardless of when Williams returns. I might even trade Williams to Minnesota for one of their other backups, since Viking backups seem to shine everywhere else but Minnesota.
I’m not even a Bears fan but now I want Keenum to play the best he’s ever played in his long and volatile career. I also like his attitude.
Johnson hasn’t yet named Keenum the starter for the Bears vs. Jets game, but he should. Or he might just end up in the next column.
