Werewolves of Sand Lake, New York - And the Secrets of Mind Control
By Greg Evans
There was a werewolf dead in the middle of a country road in Sand Lake, NY, near the cemetery where the old Moscow horse still roams on thick foggy nights. Near the spot where the old Civil War vet’s ghost is seen sitting on a stoop, smoking a pipe, reliving past horrors. The large grayish-black-furred monster lying dead in the center of the eastbound lane. I say lane, but there are no defined lanes, not really. It is just a slab of worn and wounded pavement in the middle of thick woods. The beast lay there- frozen in a moment of violence, run down on a black moonless night- gigantic with cold, piercing red eyes, even in death, and fangs like a Pegomastax.
Stories of the lycanthrope date back to the days of the Stockbridge-Mohicans hunting the woods and swamps where the elusive werewolves called these forests home. Modern folks have always denied their existence. Surreptitious government agencies are not so skeptical. Whoever ran the beast down has not come forward. Fear, no doubt, keeps them from revealing their guilt. The battered front end of the car they were driving is now hidden beneath a tarp behind the barn in case the authorities start poking around for a hit-and-run culprit.
When you are out in the woods of upstate New York, you could be at any point in history. It could be today; or June 3, 1987; or April 26, 1725, etc. Same mossy smell. Same chirping of birds and the silence of the nights. The same mild summers and arctic freezing winters. The same howl of cursed therianthropic hybrid wolf-human roaming the Yankee forests like its ancestors did the larch, Scots pine, and Norway Spruce of Valais, where the curse formally began, or so the folklore goes. And that is what I believe. It came over on the boats, hibernating in the tainted soul of a pilgrim, explorer, maybe a conquistador and eventually ended up in the colonies. The werewolf is not born from a werewolf mother. It is a curse that descends upon a host body. Like a shapeshifter, the body can then transform. It is for this reason that science and deep state government agencies first became interested in them.
For some, the romance of the werewolf is lost on chilly dark nights, driving up those lonesome country roads where the inky darkness is thick like IHOP syrup, almost viscous, the headlights barely illuminating enough to see where you are going. The winding turns, and thick vegetation swallows you. It is beautiful and peaceful, on the heaviest of nights. My niece revealed the feelings many have of coal-black nights in quiet forests. The fear of the unknown. The jump-scare blood thirsty werewolf leaping out of the shadows. Or Peter Stumpp roasting his newest victim on the campfire glowing through the trees.
“I had never driven through the woods at night before. It was so scary,” she said. I laughed like a werewolf howling at the moon. She wasn’t amused. The isolation and tranquility of the woods at night are not for everybody. Their imaginations go wild. As I drove up that dark road and came upon that red-eyed werewolf dead as stone, I nodded to the cretin and drove on past. He was dealt a short hand. Run down by terror-stricken normalcy. The curse, finally released after centuries to find a new host. Maybe it is in you. Hibernating, waiting for that right full moon.
You think the werewolf is a modern affliction of the doomed soul of modern humankind invented by an absinthe-laden horror writer from the post-Revolutionary War years, you are mistaken. A clay vase, circa 460 B.C., provides some insight into the evolution of the “mythology,” traced back to Proto-Indo-Euro times.
Does the government know about it and they are covering it up? Do foreign governments keep a lid on them too, some working in tandem with the US? Are many of them kept in secret containment facilities where they are studied and potentially considered for future military or covert operations? The government wants to keep them a secret. It is safer that way instead of people with torches and pitchforks burning villages to the ground. It has been said that the government has spent millions of dollars chasing down werewolves to study, in particular the curse that takes over their souls, why they choose that host body, and how it manipulates the power of the mind. Mind control could obviously be of great value if understood better. The U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency has given significant funds to the exotic science division of Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies, which includes the study of werewolves as well as the study of UFOs.
Mind control is the use of social, psychological, or physical (as in the case of werewolves) to change a person’s thoughts, emotions, actions, and even beliefs, whether they agree to it or not. Generally speaking, scientists are referring to such methods as brainwashing, or coercive persuasion. That is subjective, takes considerable work and resources, and there is no guarantee of a sure outcome. A curse that enters a person’s body, takes over their soul and controls their brains like a computer is a whole other level of mind control sophistication. Those in charge would have unlimited power.
People often speak of the apocalypse as a natural disaster like a super volcano erupting, a mega earthquake, another worldwide pandemic but much more severe, or even a meteor hitting the earth like what possibly happened to the dinosaurs. But what about a curse within a werewolf that can be turned into the most extraordinary tool for world dominance. The curse has been isolated and scientists along with neurologists have made considerable strides in the field of mind control. They are in the infant stages of experimenting with the power of this form of mind control. They were too nervous to try it on politicians, military personnel or even on criminals in prison, and opted on harmless specimens, athletes. It has been said the San Antonio Spurs center Wembayama is a werewolf. He was living in France when he became the object of experimentation. Some claim he knows about it, others “close to the project” insist he has no idea. Two NFL players, an MLB catcher, and a race horse were also introduced to 49U, the scientific name of the curse, and are regularly monitored using special micro data chips. In time maybe it will become normal. Or, it will backfire terribly and someone like Hitler will gain control of it and try to conquer the world.
